PASC23: New Conference Website and Program Live!

The PASC23 team is delighted to present today our new conference portal, where you will find an initial schedule of the event, information on accommodation in Davos, and be able to register for the conference. We would also like to remind you that applications are still open for the PASC23 Student Volunteer Program and that students selected as volunteers will be granted complimentary registration.

PASC23 program

This year, we are very excited to welcome PASC23 participants in the breathtaking alpine landscapes of Davos. The conference will take place at the Davos Congress Center, in Davos, Switzerland, from June 26 to 28, 2023. We look forward to fruitful discussions during the technical sessions, as well as while enjoying coffee and lunch together. We have also planned an optional evening dinner that will bring participants to Sertig Valley, a location that looks right out of a postcard.

While in-person participation at the conference is preferred, we understand that travel restrictions and personal circumstances might limit the ability of some attendees to join us in Davos. The technical program also offers participation opportunities for remote attendees (additional information available here).

The PASC23 Conference is dedicated to Computing Across Scales, Domains, and Communities, emphasizing the important role that computing and interdisciplinary collaboration have come to play in the scientific process. Advancing the frontiers of scientific computing increasingly requires connecting methods and insights from multiple scientific communities to develop novel approaches to solving problems. As such, PASC23 will focus on how advances in aggregating, synthesizing, and integrating across scales, domains, and communities improve the fidelity, replicability, and usefulness of scientific results.

The program offers five keynote lectures, an interdisciplinary dialogue, a panel discussion, over 170 talks in 46 minisymposium sessions; poster sessions; and 26 full researchpaper presentations which will be published in the Proceedings of the PASC Conference and accessible via the ACM Digital Library.

In line with this year’s challenge “Computing Across Scales, Domains, and Communities” the event program highlights include the following keynotes:

  • Professor Rick Stevens (Argonne National Laboratory and University of Chicago) on “Post-Exascale Computational Science and the Emerging Mix of HPC, AI and Quantum”.
  • Professor Lorena Barba (George Washington University) on metascience and reproducibility.
  • The winners of the “PRACE HPC Excellence Award” and of the “PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC” on ground-breaking research using HPC.
  • The winner of the PASC23 Best Paper on “FourCastNet: Accelerating Global High-Resolution Weather Forecasting Using Adaptive Fourier Neural Operators”.

Our interdisciplinary dialogue features ETH Zurich Computational Physics Professor Marina Krstic Marinkovic and DTU Mechanical Engineering Professor Jens Honore Walther, who will discuss research on flow simulations across various scales, touching applications in carbon nanotubes, molecular dynamics, chemical physics and computational fluid dynamics. Finally, a panel discussion will be held on the role of software development teams in enabling cutting-edge scientific discovery.

The PASC23 preliminary program is available here.

Registration

With PASC23 less than two months away, we invite you to register for the conference here. Early registration rates end May 14.

In order to assist PASC23 participants in their search for a hotel, we have made a room block booking at several hotels in proximity to the Congress Center. We have secured a limited number of reduced-rate hotel rooms, which are available on a first come, first served basis. Additional information can be found here.

Student Volunteer Program

If you are an undergraduate, master, or doctoral student in Computational Science, HPC, or related fields and you enjoy working in a dynamic and enthusiastic team, don’t miss the chance to experience the conference as a volunteer for PASC23. If you are selected as a volunteer for PASC23 you will receive complimentary conference registration.

Information on how to apply, and some impressions from volunteers who participated in previous years, are available here.

We look forward to receiving your application!
