The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) is operated by ETH Zürich and is located in Lugano, in the south of Switzerland. CSCS develops and provides the key supercomputing capabilities required to solve important problems to science and/or society. CSCS’s resources are open to academia, and are available as well to users from industry and the business sector.

Job description

The IAM architect role contributes to the definition, architecture, technical implementation and evaluation of CSCS Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions. As an infrastructure and platform services provider, CSCS is concerned with the processes, tools, implementation and scaling for solutions for the data centre as well its customers.

The responsibilities and tasks include analysis of requirements for CSCS IAM & Access Control ecosystem; designing the solution architecture for new and existing IAM requirements and leading implementation within CSCS teams as part of development of technology and services at the centre. The IAM architect closely collaborates with the data centre’s cybersecurity team to coordinate IAM and access control portfolio. Representation of CSCS to international collaborations and standardization activities for IAM will be among the key responsibilities for the position.

  • The position is permanent (with an initial probation period of three months) and you can either be based in Lugano or Zürich.

Your profile

A successful candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.  At least 5 years of professional experience in an IAM or security engineer role is essential for this position. An experience at a data centre or cloud services provider would be considered a plus. Demonstrable work experience of designing IAM architecture and tools is mandatory for this position together with work experience in managing large-scale user stores and data stores. Candidate must be able to demonstrate a profound knowledge of risk and change management, security policies and controls, user account life-cycle management, roles-based access, access management, and directory management. An understanding of automation, scaling concepts and management of quality of service is expected from the candidate. Specifically, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of IT security infrastructure and modern authentication & authorization protocols. Hands-on experience in building and integrating applications with infrastructure (IaaS), platform (PaaS) and software service (SaaS) would be advantageous for this position. The candidate should feel comfortable working with multi-disciplinary and leading distributed technical teams.

The ideal candidate is a team player and feels comfortable working in an international environment. Excellent command of written and spoken English (official working language) is a must. Knowledge of Italian, German and/or French is considered an advantage.
