HPC Engineer (W/M) – Open Position

The SCITAS centre provides EPFL researchers and partners with access to infrastructure and expertise in high performance computing. SCITAS also contributes to research and development activities so as to maintain the EPFL’s reputation for leading research facilities.
In order to strengthen our team, we are seeking a HPC software engineer. In this role you will support the development of efficient and scalable radioastronomy data reduction pipelines for the Square Kilometer Array. This will include benchmarking existing codes, studying how process distribution and inter-node communication affects performance, and developing simulation tools to explore the design space
Main duties and responsibilities include :
• Working within an international team to develop the SKA Computing Platform
• Benchmarking radio astronomy codes for HPC
• Application support and optimization
• Agile software development practices
• CI/CD
Your profile :
Applicants must have:

• A Masters degree in Computer/Computational Science or similar discipline
• Demonstrated working experience in an academic environment
• Demonstrated experience with performance modeling
• Demonstrated experience with benchmarking
• Demonstrated experience with application lifecycle management, including
Continuous Integration and Delivery
• Demonstrated experience with HPC software development

Applicants should have:

• Experience with development of distributed scientific software
• Experience with performance profiling tools
• Experience with heterogeneous computing and software design
• Working knowledge of Python/C/C++ and fortran
• Experience in project management
• Working knowledge of MPI/OpenMP/CUDA
• French and English at working level
