The HPC Advisory Council will hold the 2011 European Workshop on June 19th, 2011, in conjunction with the ISC´11 conference in Hamburg, Germany. The workshop will focus on HPC productivity, and advanced HPC topics and futures, and will bring together system managers, researchers, developers, computational scientists and industry affiliates to discuss recent developments and future advancements in High-Performance Computing.

The HPC Advisory Council and the Swiss Supercomputing Centre CSCS is preparing for the upcoming HPC Advisory Council Switzerland Workshop 2011 in the Lugano Convention Centre, Lugano, Switzerland, from March 21-23, 2011 (Same location as last year).

Similar to last year, the workshop will focus on High-Performance Computing education, training (including hands-on) and an overview of new developments. For this year, the workshop will include the following four sections per day:
- High speed networking
- High speed storage
- MPI deep dive
- Advanced topics/technologies/development and GPU computing

Attendance to the 3-day workshop is 80 CHF. REGISTER TODAY at the CSCS Registration Page. Be aware that when you register you will automatically be registered for the evening event on March 22nd, unless you inform us otherwise by sending an email to hussein[at]cscs.ch.

The HPC Advisory Council and the Swiss Supercomputing Centre will host the HPC Advisory Council Switzerland Workshop 2011 in the Lugano Convention Centre, Lugano, Switzerland, from March 21-23, 2011.

The workshop will focus on High-Performance Computing education, training (including hands-on) and overview of new developments. The workshop will includes the following four sections per day:
- GPU computing (session leaders: Sadaf Alam from the Swiss Supercomputer Center, Gilad Shainer from the HPC Advisory Council)
- High speed storage (session leaders: Hussein Harake from the Swiss Supercomputer Center, Eric Barton from Whamcloud, Onur Celebioglu from Dell and Mike Anderson from StreamScale)
- MPI deep dive (session leaders: Prof. Dhabaleswar K. Panda from Ohio State University and Dr. Pavan Balaji from Argonne National Laboratory)
- Advanced topics/technologies/development (Session leaders: TBD)
The workshop will bring together system managers, researchers, developers, computational scientists, students and industry affiliates for cross-training and to discuss recent HPC developments and future advancements. Please make sure to register early to ensure your seat at the workshop.
This is an excellent training and educational opportunity for European-based, HPC and data center IT professionals.

The HPC Advisory Council, a leading worldwide organization for high-performance computing research, development, outreach and education, announced the formation of its regional Centers of Excellence, broadening the scope and mission of the Council´s programs throughout the world. The HPC Advisory Council Centers of Excellence will provide local support for the HPC Advisory Council´s programs, local workshops and conferences, as well as host local computing centers that can be used to extend such activities.

CSCS has been appointed as the first Center of Excellence in Europe. “One of the HPC Advisory Council´s main activities is community and education outreach, in particular, through enhancing the HPC knowledge-base around the world and exploring future solutions,” said Gilad Shainer, chairman of the HPC Advisory Council. “The HPC Advisory Council Centers of Excellence are located worldwide and will extend the activities of the council into local areas and focus on the regional needs for furthering our HPC outreach activities.”

“We are pleased to be named as one the inaugural HPC Advisory Council´s Centers of Excellence, covering HPC research, outreach and educational activities within Europe,” said Hussein Nasser El-Harake at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre who serves as the Director of the HPC Advisory Council Center of Excellence in Switzerland. “As part of the HPC Advisory Council´s Center of Excellence, we look forward to advancing awareness of the beneficial capabilities of HPC to new users.”
