Ticino Parliament: 5 Millions CHF for National HPC Strategy

The parlament of Cantone Ticino has voted unanimously today 5 Millions to support the implementation of the High-Performance Computing and Networking (HPCN) strategy. The contribution of Canton Ticino is aimed for the construction of the new CSCS building in Lugano-Cornaredo.

CHF 172.5 million are to be invested overall in implementing the HPCN strategy., 70 for the new building, 70 for the supercomputer and the resting for developing the specific competencies that scientists and universities will need in order to put high performance computing
systems to work.

Large interest for the first Forum of hpc-ch: 33 persons attending and 10 presentations announced

The Swiss HPC Community demonstrates a large interest for the first Forum of hpc-ch:

Thursday, December 3th, from 10:00 until 17:00

33 persons from 13 organization will participate to the forum and present in 9 short presentations their HPC organization and infrastructure. University of Zurich will give a keynote presentation and invite the participants to a site visit of its infrastructure.

At this moment 11 organizations from Swiss universities announced their interest to participate as members and three organizations to participate as guest to hpc-ch (see also member list).
